Tillage Study for Corn and Soybeans: Comparing Vertical, Deep, and No-Tillage / Year 10

نویسندگان

چکیده

Trends from a tillage study conducted since 2011 have shown no clear differences between systems for either corn or soybeans in lighter soils under irrigation. One year out of eight years has yield advantage any system, which appears to be related environmental conditions experienced during the season. Averaged across all study, treatments with deep every every-other had about 4.5% higher yields, and up 3.2% increase some form tillage.

Population Dynamics of Heterodera glycines in Conventional Tillage and No-Tillage Soybean/Corn Cropping Systems.

The effects of no-tillage (NT), conventional tillage (CT), and crop rotation on soybean yield and population dynamics of Heterodera glycines were compared during a 7-year study in a silty clay loam soil with 6% organic matter. Either H. glycines-resistant 'Linford' soybean or susceptible 'Williams 82' soybean was rotated with corn and grown on 76-cm-wide rows in both tillage systems. Soybean wa...

No-Tillage Field Corn and Vegetables Using Yard Waste Compost

Disposal of yard waste on farmland could help reduce the need for additional landfill disposal sites and should help improve soil quality and productivity. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of disposal of yard waste compost (YWC) on production of field corn (Zea mays) and vegetables. Several on-farm and experiment station studies were conducted from 1993 to 1994. Corn fora...

Weed Control Using Conventional Tillage, Reduced Tillage, No-Tillage, and Cover Crops in Organic Soybean

Soybean field experiments were performed to investigate the weed-suppressing effects of different tillage systems and cover crop mulches at two locations in southwest Germany during 2014 and 2015. The influence of three different tillage systems on weed control efficacy, soybean plant density, and crop yield was determined. In the no-till system (NT), two different cover crops, (rye and barley)...

Testing for Complementarity: Glyphosate Tolerant Soybeans and Conservation Tillage

Many decisions in agriculture are made over combinations of inputs and/or practices that may be complements. The presence of complementarity among producer decisions can have deep implications for market outcomes and for the effectiveness of policies intended to influence them. Identifying complementarity relations, however, is a challenging pursuit. Drawing on recent methodological advances, i...
